Rhythms in Time Poster Available Honoring
Brian F. Hoffman, MD
Poster honoring Dr. Brian Hoffman, “the father of experimental electrophysiology” can be viewed online and is available for purchase
August 30, 2011 — This year at Heart Rhythm 2011, Rhythms in Time, (the Heart Rhythm Society/Heart Rhythm Foundation history theater), focused on the work of Brian F. Hoffman, MD. Dr. Hoffman Hoffman is justifiably considered a giant figure in the growth and
development of cardiac electrophysiology as a basic and clinical science, and he has provided guidance and inspiration for his peers as well as
succeeding generations of investigators. Dr. Hoffman’s research contributions centered on three areas:
- Study of the basis of normal and abnormal cardiac
impulse initiation and conduction
- Identification of the mechanisms responsible for
cardiac arrhythmias
- Application of the results of basic research in
electrophysiology and pharmacology to influence
patient care.
An exhibit poster honoring Dr. Hoffman and the many leading
contributors to the electrophysiological literature who have
trained directly or worked with him was a focal point of Heart Rhythm Place (view online, PDF, 967K).
The 12" x 48" poster is available for purchase — please contact Betsy Bogdansky via e-mail or calling (202) 464-3454 for information about obtaining your copy. Rhythms in Time is a component of the Foundation's The Furman Fund, created to honor one of the Society’s founding fathers, Dr. Seymour Furman. Visit the Society's website to view a PDF of the presentation that was prepared for this year’s exhibit.

Heart Rhythm 2011 Drawing Winners
While visiting the Rhythms in Time exhibit at the 32nd Annual Scientific Sessions, Jan Surkes, MD, BA, of British Columbia, Canada; Christine Walsh, MD, of the Bronx, NY and Yoshiaki Kato, MD, of Japan were the lucky winners in a drawing for the Heart Rhythm 2011 Heart Rhythm Sessions on Demand — each won a copy of the Heart Rhythm USB Drive, a comprehensive digital library of more than 350 hours of sessions from the Heart Rhythm 2011.
Visit the Society's website to learn more about purchasing the Heart Rhythm Sessions on Demand USB Drive, which includes presenter slides shown as full-motion video with synchronized live audio. Purchasers can also earn CME or CE credit for select sessions and receive free online access, so the contents of the drive can be referenced anytime, anywhere.
About the Heart Rhythm Foundation
The mission of the Heart Rhythm Foundation is to enhance the prevention and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders by supporting the research, education and advocacy efforts of the Heart Rhythm Society. Its goal is to promote a culture of giving in service to this mission.
Those interested in donating to the Furman Fund or providing the Society with relevant devices and research should contact Betsy Bogdansky, Director, Donor Relations at (202) 464-3454, bbogdansky@HRSonline.org for further information. You may support the Foundation by donating online — your contribution will enable the Society to be the primary resource for healthcare professionals and the voice of support for patients with cardiac arrhythmia disorders.
