Peter R. Kowey, MD, FHRS Pledges at the Senator Level

Dr. Peter Kowey

Contributions to the Heart Rhythm Foundation, like that of Dr. Peter Kowey, support its mission to enhance the prevention and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders by supporting the research, education and advocacy efforts of the Heart Rhythm Society.

December 14, 2010 — Peter R. Kowey, MD, FHRS, of Main Line Health System, Wynnewood, PA has upgraded his pledge to the Senator level of the Heart Rhythm Foundation. A Heart Rhythm Society member since 1982, Dr. Kowey has increased his pledge because “in these difficult times, organizations that represent and educate physicians assume even greater importance. HRS effectively ensures that patients who have cardiac rhythm disorders will receive the very best care that is not only up-to-date, but also compassionate and balanced.”

Dr. Kowey and his wife are pleased to contribute to the Heart Rhythm Society's commitment to carry out its mission, to improve the care of patients by promoting research, education and optimal health care policies and standards, for many years to come.

Dr. Kowey received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1975. He served his fellowship in cardiology at the Harvard University School of Public Health and at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston until 1980, after which he served a cardiovascular medicine and research fellowship at the West Roxbury VA Hospital and Harvard Medical School until 1981. Dr. Kowey served in many academic and leadership roles during his career, including as a professor of medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and as the chief of the division of cardiovascular diseases of the Main Line Health System, beginning in 1990. Dr. Kowey is currently a professor of medicine and clinical pharmacology at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and the William Wilkoff chair in Cardiovascular Research at the Lankenau Institute of Medical Research.
